About Alize Lam
Alize Lam is a product designer based in Hong Kong, specialize in upcycling design.
In the past decade, Alize have been designing various self-assemble kits, mainly utilizing discarded materials to tackle social problems. In the digital age, when the ingenious kinetic toy and instruments are replaced by cheap electronics, quality materials are substituted with plastic and broken objects are easier to send to landfills instead of repairing. Alize focus on educating and reintroducing the public to the value of simple mechanical design. Often inspired by objects that were designed to operate without the use of batteries. She hopes everyone would be able to experience the making of a product from scratch. From turning winebox into self-assemble musical instrument to using discarded piano to create installations, with the goal of changing publics perspective on waste.
