OCEAN FRIENDS

These dynamic artworks highlight Tsuen Wan as a coastal district, bringing tourists and locals a refreshing and joyous experience.

Inspired by the neighbourhood’s scenic harbour, Andy Rementer has designed Ocean Friends, a large-scale sculpture park specifically for Tsuen Wan. The design also echoes the maritime theme of Tsuen Wan Park.

Rementer is a top-rated American contemporary artist with a formal art education background. His diverse skill set includes paintings of portraits, landscapes and still lives. He also has a remarkable ability to create whimsical cartoon-like illustrations. A large-scale sculpture park like Ocean Friends by him is an unprecedented and exceptional creation.

In the middle of the park, a giant whale basks in the sea breeze and sunlight while blowing spontaneously, creating an enchanting atmosphere. Furthermore, surrounding the whale are a slew of lively and engaging characters and “ocean friends” infused with Rementer’s distinct sense of humour and a playful and light-hearted touch.

The installation reflects the artist’s deep admiration for the vibrant colours and striking contrasts in early Renaissance frescoes and paintings. By infusing these vibrant colours into his sculptures, Rementer adds a layer of visual impact to Tsuen Wan Park. These dynamic artworks highlight Tsuen Wan as a coastal district, bringing tourists and locals a refreshing and joyous experience.
